Plot Summary:

Road House centers around James Dalton (Patrick Swayze), a highly skilled and philosophical professional "cooler"—a specialized head bouncer—known for his calm demeanor and formidable fighting skills. Dalton is hired to clean up the Double Deuce, a rowdy and violent bar located in Jasper, Missouri. The bar has become a hotspot for trouble, largely under the thumb of the local crime boss, Brad Wesley (Ben Gazzara), who runs the town through intimidation, extortion, and violence.

Upon arriving in Jasper, Dalton quickly earns respect from the bar's rough crowd by asserting his strength and principles, and by methodically dealing with the patrons who cause problems. He also wins the affection of Dr. Elizabeth “Doc” Clay (Kelly Lynch), the town's local physician, who is wary of Dalton at first but grows close to him as they both stand against the corruption in Jasper.

Dalton's mentor and friend, Wade Garrett (Sam Elliott), visits him and provides wisdom and support, emphasizing Dalton’s philosophy of fighting only when necessary, and always with purpose. As Dalton improves the situation at the Double Deuce, he makes a direct enemy out of Brad Wesley, who attempts to maintain his control by ruthless means, including orchestrating violent attacks and personal threats.

The conflict escalates when Wesley’s henchmen severely injure Doc, prompting Dalton to take a more aggressive stance. Dalton fights back with increasing intensity, culminating in a final showdown where he confronts Wesley and his men in a brutal and climactic battle to free the town from their grip.
